Chapter 180: Casemate 11/DRAM 2008

In July, Fritz went with his friends Del and the Bean to another historical event at Fort Mifflin in Philadelphia. This event was the first time that the infamous casemate 11 was open for the public to explore.

*

In these catacombs, prisoners were held during the Civil War. The spot is believed to be very haunted, as is the rest of the fort. Fritz was glad that the Bean and Del went down there with him.

*

This creepy dungeon became widely known because it was recently featured on an episode of "Ghost Hunters". Since then, stories about the fort, casemate 11, and its former occupants have been flying around the internet.

*

Fritz boldly explored the subterranian tunnels, amazed that this place had been hidden for so long. This casemate was accidentally discovered a couple of years ago by the groundskeeper when his leg was sucked into it whilst he was mowing the grass.

*

Fritz discovered the signature of the casemate's most famous prisoner, William H. Howe. Howe was a Union soldier who was hanged at the fort for desertian and murder. During the time he was imprissoned in the casemate, he left several markings on the walls.

*

All in all, casemate 11 is a very creepy place with a lot of interesting history. Hopefully, now that it's been found, even more people will take interest in the fort and what happened there in its long history.

DRAM 2008

A couple of weeks later, Fritz, Dave, the Bean, and Del were on their way up to Connecticut for the Deep River Ancient Muster. During the journey, somewhere around New York, Fritz discovered that the cuddly blue Cthulhu had stowed away and was hiding aboard the van. This could only prove to be a bad omen.

*

At the last minute, it was decided that the Bean, Del, Dave, their friend, Tim Reilly, and his bandmate, Mary Audette, would march in the parade. Though it was rumoured that there would be pirate re-enactors joining them, none of them materialised. Poor Mary had the unfortunate luck to have her picture taken with Fritz after pouring water on her head to cool down.

*

It was a long, hot day. When the parade was over, the pirates were tired and worn out. But we did manage to get everybody to smile for this picture. Later that night, Fritz and his buddies said 'goodbye' to their friends and headed for home.
